How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I'm a full time artist working primarily in Watercolour and Pastel, producing figurative work and specialising in animal portraiture, landscape and still life. I'm also happy to accept commissions.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Being an artist and art tutor means I have the best of both worlds. I get to create art and share my enthusiasm for it when selling at markets and exhibitions, and I also get to share the enjoyment of creativity with my students. I'm a firm believer that you can always learn more, and that's why I try to attend plenty of workshops myself. The more you learn the more your practice will improve.
The most important thing to bring to class is a sense of fun and a willingness to try something new (or a bigger brush!), I think my students would all agree that my mantra is 'more water, more paint'.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

Artist and Art Tutor

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

During h.Art I will be running some one day Beginners Watercolour Workshops at Warehouse 701.
I run regular Watercolour classes and workshops from my home studio/gallery in Worcester and this year I will be collaborating with The Retreat at La Ribiere to run a week long art retreat in Limoges, France.
I also demonstrate at art societies, run school workshops and collaborate with ClassBento.co.uk to produce Watercolour tutorials that can be accessed via their website.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

I attended Art Colleges in Worcester and Southampton before embarking on a career in Graphic Design.
Following a career break to raise my family I returned to fine art by joining regular life drawing and watercolour classes at Worcester Arts Workshop.
I was then asked to teach there, which I did for a year, before setting up my own independent Watercolour Classes which I run regularly from my home studio in Worcestershire.
