Details

How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I create jewelry that weaves together the energetic properties of gemstones with meaningful design, using color, texture, and pattern to enhance their natural beauty. My work is deeply inspired by spiritual symbology, sacred geometry, and the beautiful tapestry of myth and folklore. Each collection can reflect the shifting seasons, drawing inspiration from the stories, symbols, and energies that resonate with me at that time. Through my pieces, I aim to create wearable art that carries both personal meaning and a connection to something deeper.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

For me, being an artist is about exploration, expression, and connection. Jewelry is my medium for storytelling—blending symbolism, mythology, and the energies of natural stones into meaningful, wearable pieces. I love the process of experimentation, learning new skills and refining techniques to bring my visions to life. Through my work, I seek to create more than just adornment; each piece links to the rhythm of nature, ancient wisdom, and the stories that shape our world.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

Lydia Lotus Designs is the jewelry studio of Lydia Wolsey, a designer and maker specialising in silversmithing, beading, and gemstones. Her work blends traditional craftsmanship with a deep appreciation for symbolism, sacred geometry, and the natural energies of stones. Each piece is thoughtfully created to hold meaning, drawing inspiration from folklore, mythology, and the changing seasons.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

Based in Studio 3 at The Fold, Bransford, Lydia creates all her pieces in-house while also running a retail space and a dedicated workshop area. She offers weekly workshops, ranging from mindful making sessions—where participants create beaded jewelry with a gemstone or crystal focal bead, inspired by the changing seasons—to hands-on silversmithing classes. These workshops provide an opportunity to craft beautiful sterling silver jewelry while learning traditional techniques in a welcoming, calm and creative environment.
