Details
How would you describe the work you do and why?
I create handprinted plant-fibre lampshades using my own handcut linocut blocks. I specialise in half shades (ideal for console tables, bedsides and wall lights) and also create drum shades to order for table lamps, floor lamps and ceiling pendants. I also have a range of lampshades and lamps created from appliqued Ordnance Survey maps these can be custom-made to order. In addition I create repeat patterns for fabrics and stationery, some I have digitally printed, others I license to other companies to print on their own products.
For you what does being an artist mean?:
I love expressing my creativity through my hands and creating one-off pieces of functional art from humble materials.
Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:
I'm a lampshade designer maker and a surface pattern designer.
