Details

How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I paint mainly in acrylics. I prefer to paint landscapes.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

The process of creating is what being an artist means for me. Watching the art develop through the process. Of course this depends on the piece I am doing. Some pieces are more about accuracy others are more for effect. For me the enjoyment is in the process rather than the finished piece. If I am aiming for perfection in a finished piece then I am usually disappointed!

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

For me art is a hobby and very much an emotional process. I think art is a very difficult thing to teach as such; in my opinion it is more about offering ideas and ways to create. So many people say they are not good at art, when so much of it is subjective. I think this way of thinking is more to do with the technical skills and accuracy, but there is so much more to art. As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

I have an A-level in General Art and Design and studied Display, Design at Herefordshire College of Art and Design gaining a Diploma (when I was a lot younger), now it is more of a journey of discovery through life itself.

Exhibitions in the last 3 years:

Exhibitions at The Courtyard Theatre, Hereford and at The Green Dragon Hotel, Hereford as part of h-Art
