My work is all stoneware -high fired, vitrified and strong -and can be used daily and in dishwasher/microwave/oven. Most pieces are thrown on the wheel, and are then altered or have handles added. I mix my own glazes, both shiny and semi-matt; and decorate with coloured slips under the glaze. My kiln is electric.
I love handling clay, creating three dimensional shapes, and envisioning how a pot will be used for serving or cooking food. I love hearing how a pot has become a valued & enjoyed part of daily life for the buyer.
I am a craftsman potter, making both functional and decorative pieces for use in the home.
I work in a workshop both under and next to my home. Part of the workshop is in an old brick arched cider store. I have occasional teaching sessions at home, and teach handbuilding at Gloucestershire Arts & Crafts Summer School. I regularly receive commissions from both old and new customers .
I have a Degree in Three Dimensional Design, a Postgraduate Art Teachers Certificate, and have been self employed making pots since 1975.
Exhibiting with the Herefordshire Guild at Malvern Autumn Show; at stalls at The Fold and under the Ledbury Market House; and at venues in East London and Cornwall.
Direct from my workshop -visits by arrangement and during H-Art week, from stalls at various events local to Ledbury. I have ceramic work at Limekiln Gallery in Calstock , Cornwall and at several Delis in East london.
