I take inspiration from the historical and natural world. Having spent many years as an art lecturer, I enjoy setting myself projects, and researching into the background of ideas and inspiration - as if I was my own student! I have always loved working on a computer with professional software, but in this next stage of my life, the restful and contemplative nature of hand stitch takes precedence. I dye and paint found and recycled fabrics and found papers with natural pigments and rusted metal - and plan this year to grow my own plants for textile dyeing.
To be honest, it's all I've ever done - and would be very difficult to give up!
My career was in graphic design, both traditional and digital, but I always de-compressed through stitch work. On retirement this has now become my new 'work'
I enjoy collaborating in work and exhibitions and hold workshops in textile and found paper/image collage.
