Details
How would you describe the work you do and why?
Rather than paint an image of a place I try to represent my feelings of it. My paintings span the representational/abstract boundary and are inspired by wild places, stories, dreams, myths and interconnectedness. They are an expression of my exploration of the mystery of existence and how all is connected.
For you what does being an artist mean?:
Being an artist enables me to express my feelings of freedom in the landscapes I walk and to explore the memory of the land. My art explores our belonging and our responsibility for the world and its future.
Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:
I am an artist using mainly oil paints but sometimes a range of mixed media. My paintings range in size and are intuitive with loose and lively, gestural marks. I love the texture of oil paint and oil bars using large brushes or my fingers to enliven the paintings.
