How would you describe the work you do and why?
Craft Crank clay is the material I use most. This lends itself towards slab built and moulded work. I love the rustic honey colour and texture of the clay once it’s fired. It’s always exciting to see the results of new glazes and pieces when they emerge from the kiln.
For you what does being an artist mean?:
Being able to let my imagination flow and create unique individual pieces and seeing them come to life once fired in the kiln
Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:
I first began working with ceramics in 2000 being taught by the late Deborah Mcabe RA at her studios in Marlborough School and The Devizes Studio in Wiltshire. After moving to Herefordshire in 2005, I took a break from ceramics, instead devoting my time to renovating a derelict barn in a village just outside Ludlow. In 2015, having more time, I returned to ceramics, working one day a week at Loudwater Studios in Ludlow. Since 2015 I’ve gradually increased the time I’ve spent working with clay and set up my own studio & kiln.
