Details
I first began working with ceramics in 2000 being taught by the late Deborah McCabe RA at her studios in Marlborough School and The Devizes Studio in Wiltshire.
After moving to Herefordshire in 2005, I took a break from ceramics, instead devoting my time to renovating a derelict barn in a village just outside Ludlow.
In 2015, having more time, I returned to ceramics, working one day a week at Loudwater Studios in Ludlow. Since 2020 I’ve gradually increased the time I’ve spent working with clay and set up my own studio and kiln in the village of Dilwyn.
Craft Crank clay is the material I use most. This lends itself towards slab built and moulded work. I love the rustic honey colour and texture of the clay once it’s fired. It’s always exciting to see the results of new glazes and pieces when they emerge from the kiln.
Working with clay allows me the freedom to design and produce my own unique pieces. Experimenting with different glazes can produce an array of finishes and effects. Opening the kiln is always an exciting process
Artisan Potter
I work from a small home studio where visitors are welcome to come and see the various stages in the firing and glazing processes. A selection of my work is also on display.
