Painting gives a new way of seeing and helps internalise the beauty around me, bringing it deeper into my experience. As a person-centred counsellor, my passion for portraiture feels like a parallel to the process of connecting with another person in a new way. Giving someone back their image through the medium of paint and my own seeing is a special affirmation: something moving for both of us.
After graduating in music from the University of Manchester in 1979, my career has taken me through academic administration, orchestral administration, heritage management, and consultancy in heritage and tourism, before retraining as a counsellor in 2012.
Creativity has always been important to me and I am fortunate to be able to complement my counselling work with writing and painting.
I live and work in the glorious Welsh Marches on the border between Herefordshire and Shropshire with my husband, two dogs and a cat.
I am an artist specialising in portraiture and landscapes, working principally in oils
My personal and family illness has taken me out of painting for a few years, but I am now working on several commissions and looking forward to building up a new portfolio for 2025.
