Details
My pieces are either functional stoneware or earthenware, decorated in such a way to bring pleasure to the everyday activities of life.
Some are salt-glazed and wood-fired along with my friends at Wobage and under the watchful eye of the wonderful Jeremy Steward.
Others are slip-decorated using recipes developed with the assistance of the lovely Patia Davis and fired at my studio at home and allow me to experiment with bright colours, slips and various types of clay.
Working with clay allows me to escape the precision needed in my day job, and simply create what my hands and heart want to in that moment. The pleasure I gain from seeing each piece take on its own personality and become a treasured item in a home is immeasurable. I constantly develop my skills by experimenting with various clays, glazes, shapes and sizes. This year has been the turn of earthenware and slips! Exciting times!
Emma Thomas Pottery - I create primarily functional pieces for use around the home. I love experimenting with various clays, slips and glazes to bring a variety of forms to life.
