Details

How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I am primarily attracted to form and colour, aiming to capture the light sides of objects where the highest saturated colour is, and how that shifts and changes throughout the object, through the shadow side, cast shadow and highlight. On a 2D surface this creates form which is exciting. But I'm not interested in creating something similar to a photo, the painting needs to be a slightly abstract or loose and not give all the answers that your eye is looking for (e.g. lost edges) so that you have to subcontiously 'fill in the missing pieces' to understand what it is

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Learning! Being on a journey to see what you can create. Seeing the beauty of God-given nature all-around us.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

I am a rural Herfordshire artist focusing on loose realism still life
