How would you describe the work you do and why?:

Drawings, paintings, collages, prints - whatever medium that comes to hand to create the picture that I want to see.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

For me, working as an artist means freedom - a privileged freedom to have the time and space to create what I chose ...and what I need to. It's the freedom to follow a thought or a dream to its conclusion, just to see what emerges on paper.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

Artist, working in various media to explore and describe the visual world around me.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

My work mostly starts with observation of the immediate world around me - things seen and half-seen. Quite often reflections in a window or moments caught in a photograph. The image combined with the medium sometimes prompts a series of works, following a train of thought towards abstraction.
Some work is very much based in the studio, whilst other pieces begin with images collected during travels further afield.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

Foundation: Shrewsbury. 1984
BA Fine Art: Bristol. 1987
I have spent a number of years working as a decorator and muralist.
