Much of my work is inspired by nature and a lifetime of experience exploring and enjoying the natural world. I love colour and I love textiles. I enjoy dyeing silk and wool then wet felting to create unique special scarves and bags.
It is important to me to create beautiful and high quality felt. I need to create! I am constantly trying new techniques and new ideas. Recently I have been incorporating paper into the surface of my felt which provides a different surface medium for Cyanotype printing and painting.
My primary focus has been improving my skills to make unique high quality felted accessories. Some of my recent work can be seen on my website or instagram page - CarolDashTextileArt.
I am part of a group of local felt makers based in Malvern and participate in annual exhibitions. I am also a member of the International Feltmakers Association. Currently I don’t teach workshops.
My career for the last 30+years has been as a veterinary surgeon in general practice. I have no formal art training however my art practice has always been a fulfilling hobby running alongside my professional career. It is only since taking early retirement 2 years ago that I have been able to focus more on furthering my textile passion.
Mostly Felt group annual exhibition at the Weavers Gallery Ledbury. This year there will be two exhibitions 12-18 August and 25 November- 1st December. I have also participated in the International Feltmakers Exhibition online and in person.
A selection of work is available at Oxenham Art Gallery in Leominster and Hereford
