How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I produce hand-built decorative homeware. My aim, to create beautiful ceramic art, designed and influenced by aspects of nature. A recent collection Ebb & Flow is inspired by the patterns made by water over sand, sea and riverbeds, and lately my work is heavily focused on the curvy forms and tactile shapes of pebbles.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Ceramic art is a wonderful passion. I hand-build all my pieces intuitively and love how incredibly versatile stoneware clay is. Having worked for many years as an interior designer, I think I understand how decorative pieces work to enhance our lives and the spaces we live in.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

Ceramic Artist

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

I am a member of an open access clay studio in Worcestershire and this winter hope to teach a hand-building class of my own.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

I was introduced to ceramics at sixth form and college, but my career path lead me in to designing interiors. The love of clay was reignited when I joined a recreational class at Malvern Arts College, but it really caught fire 2 years ago when I joined my current studio.
