Details
I've been painting in oils for about 25 years now (while also teaching Interior Design at Chelsea College of Art) and began to realise that a branch into three dimensional work would suite me and my background in spatial design. I took a course in ceramic 'slab building' a few years ago and found that it was the perfect medium to express my interest in form and space creation.
Its the reason I get up in the morning!
I will have been contemplating shape relationships during the night and planning small changes to help the different elements 'talk to each other'. Most of my little ceramic sculptures are black and white and I'm very influenced by the way the 'Gees Bend' quilt makers of Alabama developed ideas of abstact pattern making. Every piece I make I aim to put together a better combination of form , space and pattern. In the case of my current work the idea af three elements that compliment each other and play together makes me quite excited. Success for me is improving on what I did last time. Its an ongoing and very satisfying process and every day I learn a bit more about what I'm trying to achieve .

I have been teaching various aspects of interior design (perspective drawing, colour rendering, computer 3D modelling, colour theory and perception etc.) for over thirty five years and I have begun to show my slab building technique to interested makers. My plan is to build a small gallery off my studio where I will be able to have small workshops.
I was a practicing interior designer for many years and have taught at UAL, Kingston University (I ran the first year of the BA Int Design for a number of years) The Royal College of Art and also at The Design School.
An exhibition at The Brick Lane Gallery in London
A retrospective painting exhibition at The Chelsea Arts Club featuring 50 of my oil paintings going back 20 years.
An exhibition of my ceramics in Denmark (on the island of Bornholm)
