How would you describe the work you do and why?:

.
Working principally with flat glass using a combination of etch, acid etching and polishing techniques together with mirror and gilding I create innovative furniture pieces and decorative objects. I also present my working drawings as vinyl on deckled edged paper.

My work is partially informed by my interest in cell biology and evolutionary genetics. I imagine capturing a moment in time, a freeze frame in the evolutionary river of the development of an organism or a trait. Captured and frozen like a fossil. A record of a moment lost in time. The brief and constant moments of transition and change are the moments that inspire me.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

.
An early career in the sciences and a commitment to art and design has led to a working blend of the two.
A design year at the Mid Warwickshire College of Art was an introduction into the world of the arts. An early interest in Victorian, Art Nouveau and Art Deco glass, furniture and mirrors led me to a sponsorship to train in hot and cold glass techniques in Stourbridge. A centre for the British glass industry since the early 1600s.
A time at the Shoreditch London college of Furniture before meeting and working with the furniture designer André Dubreuil between London and his atelier at the Château de Beaulieu, his family seat in the Dordogne, cemented
my passion for design and making. I established a working studio in Limehouse London in the mid 90's before moving to mid Wales 20 years ago.
