How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I take inspiration for my work from the wildlife and farm animals that surround my countryside home. Including my own chickens and bees.
I used my own unique and energetic style to convey something of the personality and character of the animals I draw and paint.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

I live to draw and paint! I am always trying to challenge myself by trying out new techniques. Since giving up my job almost two years ago it has also become my new career and has provided an income. How lucky am I though to be doing something I love for a living. It is my passion as are my subjects which I choose to paint or draw. I have always loved the natural world and would describe myself as an ' observationalist ' noting colours, sounds, textures, small details. So I can truly say my work is me !

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

I am a Wildlife & Farm Animal Artist

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

I work from my studio at home.
I am a regular stallholder at the @localtoludlow market where I sell original pieces but also signed prints and cards.
I also take part in local country sho babyws and other events in Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Powys.
I am a member of the Drawn Collective in Shrewsbury and the Ludlow Arts Society. I have also featured on BBC radio Shropshire.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

GCSE & A Level Art
Art Foundation Course
Other than this I am pretty much a self taught artist. Whilst in my early years teaching role my artistic skills were always put into good use. In my own time I completed several classes in life drawing, watercolour painting and drawing. More recently I have tended to look online for courses. I have used these to extend my practice in using charcoal and ink.
