How would you describe the work you do and why?:
I love working with my hands to make beautiful baskets from a natural, sustainable material - willow, with the occasional use of other natural materials.
I have recently started growing my own willow and am looking forward to producing my work from growing to showing.
For you what does being an artist mean?:
I enjoy shaping willow into baskets showcasing the wonderful natural bark colours of willow and the wonderful textures and finishes that can be achieved with different weaves. I love making practical objects that are beautiful too.
Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:
I'm Debbie Barber and my baskets are made under the Westhide Willow name.
