My work captures the beauty in everyday scenes, aiming to evoke a sense of calm or hope amidst life’s continual shifts. Classically trained in the ‘sight-size’ technique, I draw inspiration from Old Masters like Turner and Caravaggio, often using tenebrism to depict light emerging from darkness. Still life painting is a foundation of my practice—each piece, an original oil on linen, is painted from life in my studio.
Building on my classical background, I also create larger, more abstract landscapes. These vibrant works, blending acrylic and oil, are designed to bring warmth and colour into homes. In addition to still life and landscapes, I also paint portraits—both commissioned and for personal exploration—capturing the essence and character of my subjects with depth and sensitivity.
I paint because it’s what I believe I was born to do—art has always made more sense to me than anything else.
In one word—everything.
I have always been an artist and cannot imagine a life without art. For me, being an artist is a way of seeing the world—constantly looking, observing, and noticing what needs to be taken note of.
I am a Fine Art Painter, classically trained in creating figurative and representational artwork. My work spans still life, portraiture, and ethereal landscapes, where I use light to evoke emotion and atmosphere.
I create work for my galleries, where my pieces are showcased, and produce larger works for my online galleries. In addition to my studio practice, I teach life drawing at The Artery in Worcester and run three workshops throughout the year: still life in oil from life, portrait painting in oil from a photograph, and ‘Paint Your Own Large Abstracted Landscape.’
Beyond this, I also give talks, demonstrations, and workshops for schools, homeless charities, and various institutions, sharing my passion for art with a wider community
I am an award-winning artist featured on Sky Arts and Sky History, showcased at The London Art Fair, and elected as the youngest full member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA).
Full Biography:
I am a full-time artist based in Ledbury, and my work has been featured by Sky Arts, Sky History, and at The London Art Fair. I studied at University College of the Arts in Norwich, earning a B.A. Honours in Fine Art, and further refined my craft at the London Atelier of Representational Art.
Since becoming a full-time artist in 2015, I have exhibited widely across the UK, including in London, Broadway, and York. In 2018, I became the youngest full member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, following my associate membership in 2017.
My work has led to numerous private and public commissions, including portraits for prominent figures such as The Budworths, owners of The Lady Magazine; the SENSE charity; Dr. John Inge, the Bishop of Worcester; and Frank Southam, the Sword Bearer of Worcester.
I was on Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year in 2021, where I had the privilege of painting Sir Trevor McDonald, whose portrait I created he chose to take home as his favorite.
In January 2023, I was invited by art critic Ruth Millington to exhibit at The London Art Fair/Sotheby’s in the curated exhibition Reframing the Muse, inspired by Millington’s book Muse (Penguin, 2022). In September 2023, I painted Amanda Holden for the television series Sex: A Bonkers History on Sky History.
