Details
I work predominantly with willow, which I grow myself or source as locally as possible, I also enjoy incorporating materials I've foraged to add colour and texture to my work. The materials I use are produced with as little negative impact to the natural world as possible to ensure that what I'm creating is sustainable.
Heritage techniques are used throughout my work, I aim to create pieces that will stand the test of time whilst also incorporating innovative ideas to push the boundaries of tradition.
My work enables me to work seasonally with materials that grow around me. I love being able to make things that are both beautiful and usable.
I'm Alisha Davidson and my business is Mortimer Willow. I live on the border of Herefordshire and Shropshire. I make both traditional and innovative baskets, garden structures and homeware.
When I'm not making I'm teaching. Teaching is a massive part of my life as a basketmaker. I enjoy helping beginners make their first baskets on day courses and more experienced makers progress and develop their skills to become independent designer makers through the City & Guilds programme.
