My love of natural materials leads
me to work with cottons, linens,
wools and in particular leather. I
love the versatility of leather, its
touch, scent and natural ability to
be shaped into beautiful
functional objects.
I am passionate about the
materials I use and favour using
surplus stock leather from the
luxury fashion industry, offcuts
from saddlery or hides from
Italy.
Being an artist means using my hands and creativity to transform ordinary materials into functional, one-of-a-kind pieces that tell a story. Working with leather allows me to merge practicality with artistry—crafting bags and accessories that aren't just useful, but also unique in design. I rely on my imagination to draft patterns and bring new ideas to life, always considering the natural beauty of the materials I use. The choice to incorporate off cuts and surplus stock into my work is my way of minimizing waste, creating with purpose while doing my part to reduce landfill. To me, art is a form of escape, a way to step out of everyday life and into a space where I can create something meaningful, with both my hands and my heart.
The name ‘Hide and Fleece’ came from my use of leather hide and woollen felts and tweeds.
