How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I usually work in two-dimensional painting and print media. I often work with sequences, sometimes linked to poetry or text, sometimes linked to significant historical works. I work in the media I now use out of expediency, I have a small professional studio, study and library; the studio has a deliberately limited scale.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

I have worked as a poet and artist for more than sixty years. My artistic practice provides a deliberately limited access to both a private and the public arena.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

Painter, Painter, Art Historian

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

My practice includes teaching the history of art and live poetry performances sometimes online. I have contributed to work with the WEA, Ross Arts Appreciation, Hereford Arts Appreciation and the Hereford Art & Craft Society.

I set out as part of the English contingent of Fluxus and subsequently, in the 1970s, started painting. I have degrees from Goldsmiths College of Art, University of London, and the University of Essex. I was appointed as Head of Art at Roehampton University and then as Professor of Poetry & Art. I am now Emeritus Professor of Poetry and Art at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Exhibitions in the last 3 years:

My most recent exhibitions were at tactile Bosch in Cardiff and at Kunsthall in Oslo.

Your gallery outlets/stockists:

Apple Store Gallery, Hereford, has provided some of my public support and attention. Most of my sales are through private and online attentions.
