Sculptural and functional objects in hot forged steel and bronze

For you what does being an artist mean?: 

The ability to translate experiences and surroundings into art using innate and acquired skills to create it.

Andrew Findlay Artist Blacksmith

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching: 

I try to create sculptural and functional objects in metals, that evoke the emotions associated with our childhood fascination with nature, using the immediacy of the forging process to freeze a moment in time.
I am also running one to one courses where participants can create a piece in my typically organic style of forging.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice: 

I am a self-taught artist blacksmith with 40 years experience.
I have been a Director of the Model House Arts and Crafts Centre in Llantrisant, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales
I have taught Blacksmithing at Herefordshire College, Holme Lacy, Herefordshire
I have demonstrated bronze forging techniques as Artist in Residence at the Metal Museum, Memphis Tennessee
I have undertaken a short course in bronze forging for the British Artist Blacksmiths Association.
I am a member of the Herefordshire Guild of Craftsmen
