How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I am an enameller who loves to push the boundaries of concept and design to produce ‘one off’, beautiful pieces.

The techniques I use are very varied, learnt from hours of experimentation with materials, temperatures and enamel combinations resulting in surprising and unique effects that are incorporated into my jewellery and bowls.

My style is contemporary, sometimes quirky, but always with an eye to colour, form and fun

For you what does being an artist mean?:

It's a bit selfish really. It's my space and I'm doing what I love. When someone connects with a piece I have made I am delighted and if it sells, that's a bonus!

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

I'm called Firefly and I am an experimental enameller.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

I'm a member of the Guild of Enamellers which is an international organisation promoting the art of enamelling. I'm proud to have received a number of awards from the Guild over the years. I am also a member of and Membership Secretary for, the Worcestershire Guild Contemporary Craft which promotes and exhibits the work of craft designers and makers across the county.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

Apart from a couple of one day courses run by Jill Leventon, I am largely self taught as just at a critical moment, we had lock down! That gave me time though to practice the craft.

Exhibitions in the last 3 years:

Three Counties Spring and Autumn shows. Worcester Guild Craftworks at Elmslie House. Guild of Enamellers Creative Craft Show NEC.

Your gallery outlets/stockists:

Oxenham Art Leominster, Oxenham Gallery Hereford, The Boat House Tintern, The Boat House Monmouth, Blue Stone Gallery Hay on Wye, Bevere Gallery Worcester, Aetheria Gallery Malvern.
