I began my photographic career as a press photographer; and my style is rooted in reportage. My images are informal and spontaneous. Drawing on my press experience, my goal is to capture a moment - the moment which expresses the character of my subject or the essence of a situation.
My art is about communication: conveying thoughts and emotions through photography.

As well as exhibiting and selling my prints, I undertake private portraits and commercial photography commissions.
Stacey Mutkin attended art college in Herefordshire, and went on to study her BA in London. She began her career as a press photographer in the 1980s: and her work today continues to reflect this experience.
