How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I have created my own range of functional slipware which I continue to develop with new designs and techniques. My work seeks to explore and innovate established making techniques in the British slipware tradition, through the capturing of a variety of patterns drawn in liquid clay.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Working as a creative is intrinsically linked to my daily life. Creating the objects for myself and others to use for the daily rituals of preparing and eating food, as well as making the humble cup of tea gives me great purpose. These rituals are what brings us together as families and communities.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

Im a potter, working in both stoneware and earthenware clays to create a range of functional dinner and drinkwares.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

MY practise is comprised of a balance of teaching wheel thrown ceramics, either in a class format or more personal tuition, making my own range of functional pots and managing an open access member studio in Worcestershire.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

My first taste of the ceramics world was when I attended a one off taster session at the Bermondsey biscuit factory in South London, wanting to find a hobby away from working in the hospitality industry. This one lesson sparked an interest in ceramics that I pursued all the way to the doors of Central Saint Martins, where I achieved a first class honours degree in Ceramic Design.
