Harvest Jugs in the Kiln

decorating slip ware tiles

How would you describe the work you do and why?:

My work is slip decorated Earthenware. I work with terracotta clay mainly on the wheel to make tableware, mugs, bowls, jugs and plates which I later decorate with white and coloured slips.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

For me being an artist is a compulsion to question and respond to the world through drawing and making. It is also a deep need to connect with the often slow and medative process of making and materials. It is a desire to bring beauty and meaning to everyday objects

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

A slipware potter and artist.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

I am a mother of three small children and a maker. I have worked with adults with learning disabilities in the past but am currently devoting all of my working time to my own practice

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

I studied Art Foundation at Norwich School of Art and Design and an MA in Fine Art and Liverpool John Moores University.
