How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I create bold, captivating artwork that catches the eye and fires the imagination.

Colour excites me, grabs my attention and fuels my creativity. Close examination of my work reveals mesmerising contours of colour, intriguing marks and undulating textures.

With their striking colour palettes and expressive marks, my vibrant paintings are the perfect way to inject energy and excitement into your home or work place.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

I work quite quickly and instinctively, liberally applying acrylic paint with rubber tipped brushes, painting knives and even kitchen utensils!

Alongside my love of colour, my work is also influenced by geological formations, West Cornwalls’s art history and anything that grabs my attention, like a line from a song, an enticing cocktail or a bunch of plastic spades at the seaside.

I love the freedom of making art, the joy of experimenting and not fully knowing where it's going to lead. I want to create art that provokes a reaction from the viewer, arouses their curiosity and causes them to engage with the work.

Discover 'All That Jazz' at Ludlow Assembly Rooms during h-Art.

Explore vibrant hues and dynamic expressions in an exciting showcase of jazz-inspired paintings created by me and fellow Worcestershire artist Susan Birth.

For this show I've created 18 brand new artworks that embody the spirit of improvisation and creative freedom that lie at the very heart of jazz.

My 12 abstract expressionist works where thick layers and lashings of acrylic paint create mesmerising fusions of colour and undulating textures, serving up a visual feast for the eyes that demands a closer look.

My seven ‘cut-out’ works, explore the interplay between individual expression and structured order. Each painting features a collection of distinctive components that, when combined, form a dynamic composition fusing the rhythmic complexity of jazz with a contemporary take on Bauhaus design.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

Since my first public exhibition more than a decade ago, my artwork has gained recognition and been shown across the West Midlands and in London, Surrey and St Ives.

I have completed private and public commissions, including bespoke designs for windows in Worcester’s historic former Hop Market Hotel and Jackson, one of the most popular elephant sculptures in Worcester’s Big Parade in 2021.

I am an ArtGemini Prize finalist and my work has been selected for the Society of Women Artists’ Annual Exhibition in London.

I am a co-founder of Worcestershire Open Studios and have led several successful collaborative art projects.
