How would you describe the work you do and why?:
The pigments from fresh leaves are transferred directly to the natural fibres of garments using a steaming process, leaving intricate and unique shapes and patterns.
For you what does being an artist mean?:
There is joy in discovering what I can make, and this has led me through many media, always discovering a bit more about myself. I have been bioprinting for a few years and I enjoy the novelty of working with a variety of fabrics and discovering which plant species print well onto each: I can observe the changing seasons through the colours that the leaves print onto the fabric, as well as the colours they show to the world while they grow; as my knowledge of the craft evolves, I understand the flora of my environment more intimately each season.
Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:
