How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I create 3 dimensional work that explores line, colour and geometry. I am interested in working with simple everyday materials such as wire and paper. I enjoy pushing beyond the usual expectations of how these media can be used, to try to create something striking, that perhaps seems to be more than the sum of its parts. These often take the form of hanging sculptures that can move and be appreciated from different angles and in different light conditions. Some of these are designed to be placed outdoors where the weathering process will further allow them to change and develop over time. My work is often focused on experimentation and I enjoy the process of challenging myself to work in innovative ways.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Being an artist means seeking novelty, being playful and experimental. This must be combined with a critical eye to constantly assess the aesthetic value of outcomes. The creative process is a form of self affirmation, and I see it as an essential element of a healthy life. I believe that everyone has a drive to create, and we are most fully alive when we are living creatively.
