I am influenced by custom motorcycle/car culture and the highly skilled craftspeople who work across multiple disciplines to customise their vehicles.
There is excitement and danger in working with metal that relates to this vibrant culture, and a high level of individuality as some of my pieces are moulded specifically to the wearer. Metals have personalities and there is a great deal of learning about how they behave and complement each other, this journey of experimentation has led to a body of work that celebrates individuality and freedom of expression.

Hamfisted Metalworks is a slightly subversive name for a jeweller, jewellery is a discipline that demands accuracy and perfection but I wanted to take a more relaxed approach while exploring surreal and amusing jewellery designs
I am lucky to have a workshop at home where I design and make everything. I try to be active on social media and be open about what I'm doing, regularly sharing photos and videos of jewellery making - the lost wax process is a fascinating technique that is often outsourced. I like to embrace technology in the making process with the use of CAD, 3D printing and CNC carving. I enjoy collaborating with artists from different disciplines such as photographers and tattoo artists in order to create new and interesting work.
In 2023 I graduated from Hereford Art College with a BA in Jewellery Design. Previously I studied and worked as a dental technician for nearly a decade, gathering metalwork skills very similar to those used in the jewellery field.
