How would you describe the work you do and why?: 

I use sustainability harvested wood from local woodlands, and scrap metal to make useful and attractive artefacts and some of the tools used to make them. I like to follow the stories of the materials from the source to the finished work, as this is a grounding process linking us to the natural environment.

For you what does being an artist mean?: 

Exploring the materials and bringing out fresh ideas from traditional crafts

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?: 

I am a forester and green woodworker

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching: 

I teach a range of woodland craft courses over the summer each year, at my own woodland workshop and other venues such as festivals and craft camps.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice: 

I have a degree in forestry, and more importantly have been lucky to have been mentored by Ken Gaulton (hurdle maker), Hugh Roberts (chair maker) and Hal Wynn Jones (yurt maker). Taking the techniques I learned from these artists, I am moving forward with my own work.
