How would you describe the work you do and why?:

Colourful, gestural and energetic - I consider the questions about the cycle of life on earth at this time and how we as individuals perceive that world and all it means. How we can improve knowledge through connection.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Self-expression, experiencing the world through investigation and analysis in the production of artwork. Enjoying the little things in life.

The world is seen in volumes of colour, the intensity of that colour changes with moods. The expression of my feelings for the world around me is through the use of vibrant colour. With those colours, my hand investigates my trains of thought.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

Adventurous artist, engineer and happy outdoor person. Painting in acrylics. As soon as a painting style is defined it changes. That's life.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

For 2023 I have a new studio in Hereford above the Apple Store Gallery. Please visit the Gallery anytime and ask to look around my studio. I produce original acrylic, watercolour, pen and wash paintings, and I am building up a collection of prints and greeting cards of my artwork.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

Self-taught artist. It all began with constant doodling as a kid and experimenting with an aerosol paint sprayer. You would not believe how messy things can get in just a heartbeat! I have continued to learn with experts across botanical and expressionism fields. I lived in Warwickshire before Hereford, which has been my home for over 25 years.

Self-taught, with invaluable instruction from:
Helen Elliot, Wales - contemporary colourist naive style painting.
Katja Katholik-Bloss - Botanical Illustration
