Details
My works are mostly in ink and watercolour based on observations of my surroundings. I specialise in the techniques and methods of Far Eastern ink-painitng which I have studied over my working life for the past 50 years. Fascinated with the power of the mark.
For me it is a way of life, observing and recording, rehearsing and creating and all the while learning.
I often use the materials and techniques of ink painting, a spare and eloquent form with its roots in China and Japan. This is at the core of my practice. I use waterbased inks and pigments and am showing a variety of images from shrines of Japan to portrait studies! See me at the venue with Bridget Drakeford, ready with my brushes and inks on hand to let you have a go on the papers of the Far East at the daily step by step one hour long practical session for all From Monday 9 to Friday 13 September at 3.45pm for 4pm prompt. All ages and abilities. Numbers limited. Book ahead or just turn up on time. Be sure to bring your artist's smock as this ink stains!
