How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I am told my work is 'conceptual'...I am not fond of categories and labelling, so I just hope that my work might leave the viewer interested, intrigued and hopefully inspired! I seek to convey more than just an attractive image, but one that lasts in the memory and prompts questions, which may sometimes feel uncomfortable. Life and death and the increasing fragility of human existance is the inspiration behind much of my work which is at times sculptural, and almost always 3D.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Being an artist is for me to have a voice and to try to make some sense out of human existence that might resonate with the viewer.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

I am a Fine Artist, I like to predominantly work in black and white in different media. I work sometimes with 'found' natural forms, which I manipulate through a partial burning process, creating strong contrasts. I seek to accentuate absence and presence and the spaces between through my work.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

I follow self-led study in my garden studio, working daily whenever possible.
