Herefordshire is a diverse county of ancient forests, ever changing field patterns, rolling hills and the brooding River Wye. Plenty of inspiration!
I carry these reminders with me and paint abstract interpretations in my attic studio. My materials vary - acrylic or oil paint, pencils, oil sticks, charcoal.
I also like to use hand-painted paper to incorporate texture into my work.
Being an artist is incredibly exciting and fulfilling but hard work.
I am a fine artist in contemporary 2D abstract art. I generally work on deep edge canvas or birch-faced plywood boards.
Working from my imagination (fed by memory, music and the countryside around me), I systematically build up layers of paint on several pieces of work at the same time.
I am usually busy in my studio for at least a couple of hours a day and sometimes at night too.
Even when not in the studio I am out sketching , visiting galleries etc.
I have constant online contact with other artists (beginners and established), on Instagram.
