How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I am interested in fragments of the landscape and geological features. 'Landmarks', 'Earth Works', and 'Freedom and Constraints' are regular themes.
I explore natural earth pigments and other natural materials in my practice. The pigments are used both dry as well as being added to acrylic binders.
Surfaces are layered revealing colours beneath. I work on handmade papers, acid free boards, canvas and plywood panels.
Drawing is a regular part of my practice as is a regular small work every Sunday in special sketchbooks - at the last count over 360 works since the idea started. 'The New Order' is a series of new works exploring natural monochrome media started in lockdown.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

The creative process is fundamental to my way of life and is a daily activity. The discipline of working in the studio is a journey of discovery.
