Reduced stoneware pottery, I like functional and practical wares, made to be used . I am very attracted to the traditional shapes of domestic wares which have the practical forms that time together with constant use has given them.
Its an exploration of form, with decoration that can complement it. I am aiming at tactile useful pots as these give me the most pleasure. There is real satisfaction in seeing the potential customer who feels the need to pick up a pot to feel it and appreciated its shape, as much as the way it looks.
I am a potter, I have been doing pottery in evening classes for years but have only recently set up a pottery at home.
I work at home using a gas kiln and I am still attending evening classes at Wobage Pottery workshops, Upton Bishop. Both of the resident potters create an open friendly atmosphere for the exchange of knowledge and ideas. The wood firings are a communal effort shared by all, with the opportunity of looking at, and discussing all the ware as the kiln is unpacked.
