How would you describe the work you do and why?:

Currently I am focussing on printmaking, I work in a spontaneous way, sketching landscape in situ. I focus on time and weather and how we relate to the world around us with a particular interest in ancient landscape. Back in the studio my sketches are the starting point. I allow myself to be led by the printmaking process and my imagination, until I create a mood and atmosphere that I am happy with. I enjoy never quite knowing how it will come out of the press and make the most of the accidental element of printmaking.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

For me, being an artist is about sharing and communicating a response to my surroundings. Creating a mood, a feeling about a place and connecting in some way with whoever views the work.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

I am a printmaker and painter, specialising in landscape.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

I work outside and in my own home studio. I have been an active member of the art community in Cornwall and am now making connections here in Herefordshire. I have run workshops as well as selling work in local art galleries. I was also a member of a collective of artists sharing the running of a small gallery in Penryn. Since moving to Herefordshire, I have found printmaking groups to join in Malvern and Stroud as well as taking part in local exhibitions and events.
