Dressed to Kill

Sew Little Time

How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I work in a mixture of materials often using found and treasured objects to build into my 3d work. I make sculptures, shrines and collages. I paint, draw, sew and print. I am fascinated by the invisible line between the subconscious 'doodle' and the conscious act of drawing. I want my work to be free and loose but am always drawn to minute detail. I weave between the two.
I work because I always have. My work is an emotional response to life events. A response to an image that has moved me. A delight in materials. An extension of my inveterate doodling.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Being an artist allows/provides me with the opportunity to express my internal world without words! A place where curiosity and research can develop. I love processes and surprises.
