How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I have a keen eye for nature and the changing seasons. My daily walks are often my inspiration for my work, many of which focus on seasonal nature observations. Original studies are sometimes used for cards and products. I have a love of slow, intentional living, of enjoying simple routines and connecting with others. I try and share this through my work - creating enamel mugs so you can enjoy a hot drink on a pause while walking with a friend and taking in the scenery. Through cards and letter paper to take time to write to a friend. I like introducing others to the natural world through my observations of it.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Interpreting what I see, through the power of the pen, paint and sometimes photograph into something that others can enjoy.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

My work is mainly based on observational drawings, using pen and ink. I have a love of lettering that gets involved too. More recently I’ve been working abstract and combining these with my brush lettering.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

I have a studio in the village of Brampton Bryan where I spend much of my time, and am a member of The Artists’ Gallery at Bromfield, Ludlow. The surrounding countryside is ideal for my love of walks and for seeking inspiration. I have made it part of my practice to do an observational drawing everyday and now have many, many sketchbooks full of these studies. I sell cards, products and some originals on my website and Etsy shop, and do the occasional exhibition. I run short, introductory workshops in brush lettering and modern calligraphy as well as an introduction to drawing and a beginner's botanical watercolour workshop.
The studio space doubles up as a small shop to sell my work from.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

I studied Art at GCSE, and A'Level and went on to do an Art Foundation year. I then veered off into a teaching career (Forest School) for 12 years before my sketchbook hobby got out of control and led to my full time art practice.
