How would you describe the work you do and why?:

My animal paintings are created in watercolours from photographs. It is an 'illustrative' style, using a fine- tipped paint brush, adding layers of texture.
My old buildings are drawn in black ink with watercolour wash. My style is quite fine, realistic and illustrative in nature. I love the details. It takes time and patience, which I find it very meditative and calming.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

It is such a pleasure for me to create a portrait of an animal, from blank paper to work of art. Slowly adding the layers, it is a thrill to see my artwork gradually coming to life! "It's all in the eyes..." my customers tell me, and I would agree this is the key to a successful painting of an animal. My passion for dogs (and other animals) combined with my creative talent, has enabled me to enjoy a successful career for almost 40 years working as a professional artist. My customers are very complimentary. They appreciate that I understand the unique relationship between owners and their pets...
My old houses... I can see the personality and expression in each one of them, the passing of time reflecting on their worn surfaces. The houses in Herefordshire are especially quirky! I love them.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

I am primarily a Pet-Portrait artist, working in watercolours from photographs. My portfolio has extended from painting dogs, cats, horses to also including farmyard and wild animals. My WaggyDogz card & Gift range features over 200 images from my original paintings.
I also love old buildings, painting local scenes of the old houses in the nearby villages near my studio in Weobley.
