How do you describe your Gallery?:
The Rodd was the final home and studio of Sir Sidney Nolan (1917 -1992).
Sir Sidney Nolan was a leading artist of the 20th century and one of the most influential pioneers of Australian modernism. He is especially celebrated for his iconic paintings of the bush-ranger outlaw Ned Kelly. Nolan settled permanently in the UK from 1953 becoming a major name in British art. Known for his experimental style and unusual use of materials he explored global themes of place, culture and human experience.
Today the Sidney Nolan Trust cares for and enables access to an internationally significant collection of Nolan’s art, his extensive archive, book, and photography collection and his former home and estate.

Nolan’s Africa
2 April – 28 June
Follow Sidney Nolan through Africa as we reveal the fascinating backstory of the artist’s 1963 African Journey exhibition. Experience the mid-century influences Nolan was absorbing and channelling into his paintings: the legacies of colonialism, war and conflict, globalisation, and animal extinctions.
Utility to Futility
2 April – 5 July
Utility to Futility explores how objects, through their form and materiality, challenge our understanding of functionality. Glass, wood, and metal intertwine to create works that, despite their familiar appearance, are fundamentally unusable. Sacha Delabre, Axelle Mary, Bim Burton & Izzi Lombardo.
