How do you describe your Gallery?:
Oil & Oak is a community led Gift Shop & Gallery, supporting local independent makers, creators and artists. Located in the beautiful Hay-on-Wye, in the Welsh Borderlands, we are proudly unique, artisan and independent.
Showcasing over 40 local creatives and their handmade sustainable gifts, we want to support as many artists and makers as we can. Oil & Oak is a curated space for contemporary craft and design from Wales and beyond. We stock a range of Jewelery, Homewares, Clothing, Greetings Cards, Wrapping Paper, Vegan Gifts, Original Artwork, Prints, Beauty Products, Sustainable Gifts, Ceramics and Sculptures.
Do you specialise in any particular artform or craft?:
We try to showcase as wide a variety of makers, crafts and artisans as possible. It's important to us that art is accessible for everyone.
What's important to you when you choose whose work to exhibit and sell?:
I've been working as an Abstract Painter for over 10yrs and also a curator in Bristol for the past 8 yrs, where I've supported artists and makers through exhibitions and events. Over that time I've cultivated many artistic relationships and I truly love working with artists and creatives. I've always felt art should be accessible for everyone, be that through the sale of affordable artwork or the provision of creative workshops. Art is good for the soul. Opening a Gift Shop & Gallery where we supported local makers, crafters and artists was a natural evolution for me.
