How do you describe your Gallery?:
Livinloom has grown from a desire to create a relaxed welcoming space where owner and weaver, Gaby, could show her work and meet clients.
A love of colour, texture and natural fibres, striving to create a unique space, meeting talented makers along the way and a love for sourcing pieces to complement the shop we now have the work of five artists living in Ross-on-Wye and the Forest of Dean and an ever evolving collection of complementing pieces sourced to fit alongside everything in Livinloom.
Do you specialise in any particular artform or craft?:
When Gaby is not at the shop, she is working from her studio in The Forest of Dean where she designs and weaves small batches of bespoke woven fabrics, weaving with a range of Lambswool, Mohair and Rug wool. Gaby works on a large AVL floor loom which requires a separate dedicated space for this part of the business.
As of Spring this year, Karen Tacey, of Ceramics by Karen Tacey has joined Livinloom to share the space and show more of her collections, also being in the shop on a regular basis you are able to meet her there and chat about her work.
This year for h.Art we have a visiting maker, Rhys Partridge who lives and makes in Ross-on-Wye. A painter and printmaker specialising in the linocut process and semi abstract oil painting of landscapes.
Lastly we have our long standing makers, Megan Pugh who creates the most coveted felted animals, Abigail Bury's Beautiful linens suitable for soft furnishings and upholstery, inspired by florals and nature and finally Ali Tregaskes specialising in nature inspired etched silver.
What's important to you when you choose whose work to exhibit and sell?:
I enjoy learning the story behind a product wether it be from one of our makers who I have come to know very well or somebody further afield. Working with small businesses you get to learn so much about why they do what they do.
I always get a feeling about the pieces we choose for the shop and know wether they will work amongst everything else.
What's coming up this year?:
April 6th we are celebrating Karen Tacey joining us at the shop with an open day where everyone is welcome 10-5
