How do you describe your Gallery?:
Canwood Gallery is a testament to one man’s survival. In the 1970s Stephen Dale was diagnosed with leukaemia. Thanks to life saving treatment at St Bart’s he was determined to use his love of art to raise money for the hospital and to give people an experience of great art from great artists for free.

Do you specialise in any particular artform or craft?:
Canwood Gallery is well known for the thought provoking sculptures and art work created by internationally famous artists exhibited in the sculpture park and the gallery. During h.Art 2024 we have an exhibition of smaller, affordable garden art and sculptures. We want visitors to see the amazing artworks and the h.Art garden exhibition and leave with part of Canwood for themselves.
What's important to you when you choose whose work to exhibit and sell?:
Stephen purchases and selects work that elicits an instant response – we all immediately know if it’s right or wrong. Sometimes we disagree. Why not see how you feel and react to the exhibitions?
What's coming up this year?:
Our exhibitions change monthly. We have a full and exciting programme from April to September details on our website www.canwoodgallery.com
In September 2024 we will host an exhibition of Affordable Garden Art giving local artists an opportunity to exhibit in this prestigious gallery and allowing h.Art visitors to enjoy the Canwood experience.
Your notable exhibitions in the last few years:
In 2023 we ran a full season of exhibitions ranging from Damien Hurst’s “The Empresses”, to a fundraiser for “Save the Wye”, an exhibition by local environmentally concerned artists.
Who are the Artists you show on a regular basis:
Carl Andre, Angela Connor, Tracey Emin, Nicole Farhi, Barbara Hepworth, Damien Hurst, Matsuyama, Simon Probyn, Walenty Pytel.
